I have had the privilege recently to be involved with Trailerfarm once again, working on a number of promotional pieces for Mind Candy and the new IP "World of Warriors". I've been working on look development, layout and staging as well as lighting, surfacing and rendering. Due to Trailerfarm's internal pipeline most of the work has been done using a combination of Cinema 4D and After Effects, with considerable post work leveraging other third party plugins such as Element 3D and Red-Giant Particular.
Here is the final piece.
This video is a look-dev piece we did to test 2D character cut-outs on rendered backgrounds. Everything here has been assembled in AE and composed in a 3D comp. We were going for a more stylized treatment with articulated 2D characters and subtle motion. I used Particular 2.0 for the glowing embers. This was approved for the final piece although it does not represent final quality.
Here are some background plates I completed using Cinema 4D. Models were supplied from Mind Candy and I handled the surfacing, lighting and rendering.
These next images show a range of frames from the final shots - prior to final grading and fx passes.
And some larger shots from the above...
Some screen captures from C4D showing scene setup and AE showing Element 3D being used to assemble content for the TV spot.
